It was the week before it was time to head off to school, this year Woodson Schwartz would attend Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. All his life he'd attended another school for witchcraft and wizardry called Duncan Public School. It sounds like a muggle school, but really it isn't.
Walking along a long concrete side walk, Woodson was humming along to a song that he just heard on his mother's radio. Well, it wasn't his mothers. She had found it and decided to study it since she works with Muggle Relations at the Ministry of Magic. The song was called "Feelin' Way Too Damn Good", but Woodson never caught the name of whoever sang the song. He didn't really care, however, the tune was catchy.
"I missed you so much that I begged you to fly and see me.." Woodson sang. "You must've broke down 'cause you finally said that you would." While he was doing his thing he noticed a house off to the right of himself. He paused, looking at the building. For some reason he was entranced to it, it was so unique. His singing trailed off as he came more fascinated.

Amber had had a pretty hectic week, it was just before she was to return to Hogwarts, and her mother had been busily pestering her about packing. That and the fact that she had spent most of her summer and was still with her father and his bitch – her real name was Julie but Amber preferred the term ‘bitch’, had made the summer suck. Amber absolutely hated staying with her father, the place sucked, the people sucked and her stepbrother thought it hilarious to spray her with water whilst she slept. Amber wouldn’t have normally minded pranks pulled her, she could normally laugh at herself, but she just didn’t find it easy to get on with her father’s new family.
Almost all day her mum had been sending her owls with Hogwarts stuff she’d left at home, half of it she’d left there for a reason and had sent back with a new owl and an annoyed note to Louisa Harman. Why couldn’t people just leave her alone?
Deciding that she’d had enough of packing Amber left her room, pulling her dungaree’s strap back on her shoulder as she closed the door. She hated it here, and she couldn’t understand why her father had deemed it necessary to buy a huge old house. Apparently it had ‘class’ but Amber thought he could stick his ‘classy house and new wife’ where the sun don’t shine.
Jogging silently down the stairs, god forbid anyone hear her and try to make her stay in, she quickly slung her favourite jumper on and left the house. Whilst making her way down the drive way she scooped her large, curly hair up into a ponytail and looked around for some place to go. You’d think, after she’d spent the entire summer in this place, she’d know where to chill out; well the fact was she didn’t. She only had a few friends around here – Pete, Mark and Ben, who she sometimes played football – a muggle sport she’d quite accustomed herself to, with. But they’d gone back to school at the beginning of the week so she had no one to hang around with, however she spotted a tall, good-looking guy maybe a little older than herself looking up at her house in what seemed like wonder. Amber approached him confidently, she’d always got along better with guys than girls and when she drew close to him she turned to try and pin point what he was looking at. To her the house was an everyday object but it was rather grand and Amber supposed that was what he was looking at.
“Designed in the early 1800s it’s of great architectural beauty,” Amber winked at him, “I do so find old buildings fascinating,” she said, sarcastically but not meanly, “I’m Amber,” she grinned, displaying a full set of shinning white teeth.

Woodson didn't even see her coming, and slightly jumped at the sound of her voice. She must live in there..he thought. "You startled me there. What was your name again?" he asked as he hadn't heard everything she said. "I'm Woodson, but my friends call me Woody." Woodson took a good look at the girl,Good looking, loyal, brave. You must be a Gryffindor, but something tells me she's a 4th year.
He smiled, waiting for her to answer. She was very pretty with the curly hair and great figure, but Woodson wasn't really interested in all of that. He looked to the house. "Do you live there?" he asked. If only he knew that he was kind of making a fool out of himself. He should have been paying attention, then there would be no need for such questions.

"I'm Woodson, but my friends call me Woody."
“Amber,” Amber repeated, wondering if the boy was magical. Most of the people from around here were muggles except for a few that she knew about. Amber quickly scanned the boy for a wand with her eyes, upon seeing one she felt a little happier, seeing as there would be no awkward questions about her own wand sticking out of her pocket.
"Do you live there?"
“Better believe it,” she said, looking up at the house, the back at Woody. It was odd he was a wizard and she’d never even seen him before, perhaps he was older than he looked or maybe he went to one of the lesser known magical schools in the country, Amber knew of a few but almost none who attended them. In fact there was one around here, Duncan School or something like that… Amber thought for a second Duncan Public School that was it. But she knew that school had gone back a week ago, seeing as her friend Ben attended it. She wondered if the boy was skiving off, or if he’d finished school or something. She didn’t want to make assumptions in case she was wrong and instead she simply said, “Do you play footie?”

((OOC: Total "WTF" moment. footie is football right? jms))
Woodson nodded, "At my old school, Duncan Public School, my friend and I played all the time. I guess I'll have to see who plays it at my new school." He looked around the area, and saw no one else out. It was only the two of them that were standing on the side walk, just talking. Everyone else must have still been sleeping or were doing something inside.

((OOC: heheh, sorry >.< forgot about soccer and stuff... being British and all ^^))
"At my old school, Duncan Public School, my friend and I played all the time. I guess I'll have to see who plays it at my new school."
“You moving schools then?” Amber said, momentarily forgetting about football. Woody had just confirmed her thought about his schooling. “You should move to Hogwarts, it’s ace,” she then decided she sounded like a walking advertisement for the school but she wasn’t about to blush or anything – that wasn’t Amber style. Deciding she’d spoken enough all ready, Amber dug into her dungaree’s pocket and fished out some Honeyduke’s gum. Taking a piece for herself she chewed it and offered Woody a piece, “You want some?”

((OOC: It's okay, i know what you mean by "footie", I'm just not full away yet. LOL! It's okay.))
He took some of the gum and thanked her. "Come to think of it, I am going to Hogwarts this year. Though I don't understand why I don't just finish my last year at Duncan." he told her. It was his mother's idea to transfer him because according to her Hogwarts brought more opprotunity for students. Well, if that was the case then it really didn't matter what school Woody went to. When he left school he wanted to become a writer for the Daily Prophet, there really was no need for school in order to do that. Maybe some classes during school, but no other college schooling afterwards.

"Come to think of it, I am going to Hogwarts this year. Though I don't understand why I don't just finish my last year at Duncan."
Amber chewed thoughtfully on her gum. “Mmm,” she replied in agreement, Amber had been going to Hogwarts all her school life, she was one of those people who didn’t really mind the ups and downs of the castle and loved it all the same. “S’pose Hogwarts is more… big,” she said, not really caring about her grammar. She immediately wondered about which house Woody would be sorted into, she sort of hoped it was Gryffindor with her – Woody seemed the friendly type. Deciding to voice her thoughts she said, “You got any idea which house you’re gonna be sorted into?”

"Actually my mother said that I'm transfering 'cause Hogwarts has been learing, and more opprotunities for college and all the other stuff." he explained, then sighed. She didn't have any idea how much of a nag his mother was. Sometimes he thought about murdering her, but then told himself that he was thinking like his father who was a death eater. "I'm not really sure, Gryffindor or Ravenclaw."

"Actually my mother said that I'm transferring 'cause Hogwarts has been leering, and more opportunities for college and all the other stuff. I'm not really sure, Gryffindor or Ravenclaw."
Amber nodded, it sounded to her that his mother was making him transfer – Amber remembered back to when she was eleven and her mother had tried to not let her go to Hogwarts. Amber decided she’d had the worst luck in the world, her father was the wizard but it was her mother that she loved. There had been a huge row about it where Amber’s mum had yelled at her to ‘stop being a witch!’ That was when Amber’s dad had done the only good thing he’d ever done and argued her case. If Amber’s mother had had the choice Amber would now be in a nice all girls boarding school wearing skirts and going to proms in big pink puffy dresses.
Amber didn’t say anything about going to college. When she finished school the first thing she was planning to do was to apply to all the Qudditch teams in England, then if that didn’t work out all the Qudditch teams in Britain. Amber had this feeling that one day she would make it big in the Qudditch world. To Amber there was no ‘if’ involved – she was going to get into major league Qudditch sooner or later.
Finally she spoke up and said, “What about you? What do you wanna do?”

Woodson thought for a second, his heart was set on becoming a journalist, a sports journalist. He didn't answer, but gave her a confused look. Was she talking about what house he wanted to be in or was she talking about what he wanted to do after school? He shook of the thought and took it as she was asking what he wanted to do after school. "I want to become a sports journalist for the Daily Prophet." he answered her.

“I want to become a sports journalist for the Daily Prophet."
“Really? Cool,” Amber grinned, Woody was becoming more interesting by the minute. She was about to tell him about wanting to go into Qudditch when she got older, but her arse-wipe brother came running out of the house after her.
“AAAAAAMBER!”
Amber fixed him with a glare, “What?” she said, annoyed at having her conversation interrupted by the boy. Bobby was only a year younger than herself, but she was still Queen Bee in her mind.
“You have to go clean your room.”
Amber rolled her eyes at him, and turned back to Woody, intent on carrying on her conversation.
“Now!”
Amber ignored him and said to Woody, “Where were we?”
“AMBER! You have to do it now you stupid cow!”
Amber turned back to him, “Get stuffed freak!”
Bobby didn’t seem to get the idea and carried on “Bitch!
“Crap bag!”
“Whore!”
“Whiny fucking shit face!” Amber yelled at him.
Bobby glared at his half sister, said, “I’m gonna tell dad,” and ran back into the house. Amber couldn’t have cared less and turned back to Woody, “Sorry ‘bout that.”

"Sibling rivalry, always get my kicks outta that." he said teasingly. He wasn't trying to be mean, just trying to make the good shine through the moment. "It's okay, I see it all the time."
((oy, writer's block there.))

"It's okay, I see it all the time."
Amber smiled, “He’s such a prat,” she said, commenting on her half brother, “Do you have any brothers?” She took another piece of gum, her first one’s flavour having run out, and stuck it in her mouth, holding the packet out to Woody in offer.
It seemed that they were not going to be left in peace however, as just then Amber’s father stuck his head out the window and yelled “Amber! Now!”
“God,” Amber complained, “I can see they’re not gonna let it drop… I’d better go see what he wants.”
She clapped Woody on the shoulder, “Nice meeting you, I might see you round Hogwarts?”

He was about to answer her question when her father interrupted him. Woody nodded. "Yeah, I'll see ya around. Nice meeting ya too."
