First Name: Jarvis
Middle Name: Damien
Last Name: Riddle
Age: 14
House: Slytherin
Year: 3rd
Blood(pure,muggle,half): Half
Personality: Damien is probably the ‘odd one out’ of the Riddle children. He is extremely quiet and has a shyness about him that he definitely did not inherit from either of his parents. He does have a stubborn, slightly spoilt side to his personality, however nearly nobody has ever seen this side to him, merely because he is much more of an introvert than an extrovert. He is much more likely to whisper his curses than to shout them out at others, and this fact alone probably stopped him from earning a reputation in that field. Among most of the other Slytherins he is known as the quiet boy who gets on with his school work and hardly ever talks – and although other boys may think it is funny to mock him, or knock him over when carrying books, sitting down to read or play himself at chess by the fire in the Slytherin common room is Damien’s idea of a good time.
Although sorted into Slytherin house Damien is not your average Slytherin. Although he is the son of the Dark Lord, no one would ever guess it and Damien – having never met his father does not see any reason to be like Lord Voldemort. In fact, if Damien was ever to achieve greatness he would much rather have achieved it himself, rather than live in his father’s shadow. And being of half wizarding blood, through his father’s line, Damien sees no need to taunt muggle borns, or terrorize other houses. He likes to keep himself to himself, and so that is why, in all of Slytherin house, Damien has no friends. However, he does not really mind this, as he does not feel a need for social interaction.
Aside from the typical, untrue, view of all Slytherins, Damien does fit the other categories stated by the Sorting Hat. Ambition is definitely a word Damien would use to describe himself. He likes to be set challenges and he has a certain determination that is born out of his obsession to be successful in all that he does. Therefore he can never start something and then leave it, and if asked something he does not know he will not just wonder about it, but go straight to a library and look it up. Damien is constantly in search of answers, and for such a small, pale boy his head if full of many questions. Through his determination, and inheritance of his father’s magical prowess, Damien is an extremely clever boy. He believes that nothing is worth finding out unless you are going to remember it, and so his head is full of unusual and interesting facts that would never dream a fourteen year old would know.
Books and learning are two of Damien’s favourite things, he is in no way athletic and he learnt this from an early age, and so he turned to something he knew he could find great success in, magic and facts. He knows that each day you can learn something new, and while others may find winning a Qudditch game exciting, Damien finds new information equally so. He is a terribly quick learner, but also he has a tendency to question all and everything, meaning his studies and homework, although much more in depth than his classmate’s will also be completed in a much longer time. He is obviously an exceptionally bright boy, but he learns for himself and does not see any need to show his learning to anyone, and so earning himself a slightly disappointing reputation amongst Hogwarts staff, most of whom believe he is not, as he says truthfully, researching, but not bothering to do assignments. Damien does find this attitude towards him extremely tedious, but he does not say anything or talk back to teachers, he is polite and quiet all the time and has never been known not to be.
Damien has a disregard for other people’s opinions of him, and that is why he argued so much about having to disguise his last name at Hogwarts. He does not care what other people say about him, or to him about himself or his family and finds such trivial things as gossip not worth bothering about. Why should he care if so-and-so kissed so-and-so?
Damien’s family are important to him, he always treats them with respect and love and is patient around them. However, he feels no need to uphold some kind of Riddle family honour and attempt to be like the Dark Lord, as his cousins and siblings do. As previously said, he would rather live for himself than become a pawn in Lord Voldemort’s plans. He regards such things as speaking to his father through gateways, in pastletongue a classic example of hero-worshiping, if Tom Riddle has died, then why is every one intent on bringing him back? In Damien’s mind, if all the Death Eaters are as great as people say, why does some one not rise up among them? Why do they act like a group of lost sheep that can only follow Lord Voldemort’s command? Damien, while having no desire to become the leader of the Death Eaters, believes it is pathetic.
Although he appears weak in his personality to others, he can stand up for himself and defend himself if ever the time arose, although he normally lets others have their ‘fun’ and bully him as much as they want. He has much inner strength inside him, and deep inside there is much courage and bravery. Back at the start of his first year Damien was either to be sorted into Gryffindor or Slytherin, and it seemed, when the Hat chose the later, Damien’s ambition overcomes his bravery.
Likes: He holds a great love for learning, and is excellent at it in any respect, which is not to do with sport. He is great at the theory of magic and also putting spells into practice, but still has not mastered how to make a broom take off from the ground. He likes chess – he taught himself and is extremely good at it. Reading is also a great passion.
Dislikes: Speaking to people for the first, second or even third and fourth times are things that Damien finds nerve racking. In fact, talking to people at all is not something he enjoys immensely. The word ‘failure’ is a word no one likes to hear, but Damien is so obsessed with becoming the best in everything he does that that word is one that damages his ego greatly. He hates being teased by his sisters, the only people who’ll ever do it jestingly – even his mother makes fun of the way he has no social life. Also he is terrified of heights, could it be that is why he has never had a broom take off for him? Something inside telling it to stay on the floor…?
Mother: Ivy Rosalind Clerk
Father: Tom Marvolo Riddle
Siblings: Marcaria and Kaitlyn Riddle
Other Family/Friends: Cousins - Riyan Raven Riddle, Contessa Riddle, Salvador Riddle, Dallas Riddle, Damia Riddle and Ulric Riddle.
Height: 5”0
Weight: 85
Eye Color: Grey
Hair Color: Brown
Other Description: He is a small, underweight boy, and has almost no muscle. Damien is on the bony side, however his appearance is slightly cute. He has a pale complexion and his dark hair makes him look even more pallid than ever. His hair is quite long, curling comfortably around his ears. It is straight and flat, and sometimes Damien finds it boring, however he would never cut his hair short as his appearance is quite important to him. However, he is in no way vain, and although it looks as though he spends a long time styling his hair, it is actually the opposite. Although when he wakes up it sticks up all over the place, by the time he’s run a hand through it each hair falls exactly back into place.
Damien’s eyes are slightly on the small side, they are almond shape and a grey colour, almost as if, when you look into them you are looking into a deep fog. They light up when he is happy, and when smiling or laughing they form themselves into almost arrowhead shapes, coupled with his extremely long, thick eyelashes and thin nose he looks almost as if he is not a human but of Japanese anime cartoon design.
All of Damien’s teeth are perfectly white, when smiling or laughing most of the top layer, and a little of the bottom layer show. In his second year at Hogwarts Damien’s mother cast a spell on them, which aligned them, as previously his front two teeth stuck out, almost like a rabbit.
Anything else?: The school requires him to go by the name of Clerk – his mother’s surname, as they feel the last name Riddle will stir up too much commotion within the school. He also requires his pair of glasses to read (the bottom pair).
He also goes by his middle name.
