He smiled with relief when she said tomorrow. He had hardly started - the teachers were piling it on so early this year. The smile turned to a slightly sheepish one when she asked why he didn't talk in class. "Um, well, you know. I sit in back, he drones on and on... its hard to stay with the topic let alone awake, y'know?"

He smiled. THis girl was really easy to talk to whihc made him feel alot more comfortable. "What do you mean?" he asked, thinking maybe her sister was in the same year and just copied off all of Zarahe's home work.

"Oh, right. Umm, my sister is my guardian. Since my mother suddenly disappeared and my father spends hours on end looking for her, my sister now looks after me. She's like a second mother."

Her response was definantly not what he anticipated; and his facial expression showed the shock. "Oh... wow. I just thought she was some one who copied your home work..." he said with a small, forced laugh that said 'you situation isn't funny but I don't know what else to do.'

"Oh." she said and lightly chuckled herself. "No, she's not." She fell silent, what was there to talk about now? She didn't particularly like talking about her family and history. It was sad and depressing, and Zarahe liked to be cheerful and bright.

"Umm..." managed James, not really wanting to talk about her family either. He wanted to go downstairs and get some breakfast - his favorite meal. But if there was one thing James lacked, it was the ability to talk to girls. If he asked her if she wanted to eat with him, would she take it as he liked liked her? But if he didn't, would she think he was rude? He just never knew. He finally settled on: "I was gonna go get some breakfast... what about you?"

James guessed that since they had walked together, they would sit together (you could tell he never has had a girlfriend). He pointed out a pair of seats towards the front of the Ravenclaw table, which is where they sat just as the plates filled magically with food.

He looked up at her to see why she had laughed but only managed to spill some syrup down his chin. "Crap." he mumbled to himself, looking back down at his plate and reaching for his napkin to wipe his face clean.
