James Ambercrombie stumbled up the stairs to the owelry at about 7 in the morning on a sunday. He had on a t-shirt and a pair of jeans with some sneakers. In his hand he was tightly gripping a white envelope that had been sealed. In the envelope was a letter to his mom. The year had JUST started and he was sending a letter to his mom. Mainly he was doing it because if he didn't, he'd get a howler, which was the most embarassing moment of his life when he got one last year. But still, he didn't want everyone else to think he was a baby sending his mommy a letter.
When he got to the top, he looked around for one of the school's owls (who always seemed to be hiding). He spotted a big brown one at the top and tried to get it to come to him. Reluctantly, the bird came after a minute or so of coaxing. James looked around and tied the letter to the leg of the bird frantically, like he was doing somehting illegal or something. giving another look around, he took the bird to the window, sending it on its way. He turned around and wiped his forehead in relief.

((Name's pronounced Sar-a))
Zarahe Gianni walked quietly down the stairs to the owlery, in her hand was a small letter to her older sister, Jakie Gianni. Sure school had just started, but Jakie had asked Zarahe to send her a letter as soon as possible after getting settled in the school. After Jakie and Zarahe's mother ran away, Jakie became the mother figure in both of their lives. Their father, bless the ol' man, sits at home waiting for his wife to return.
Zarahe had her brown hair up in a ponytail, and she wore the normal Ravenclaw school attire, but instead of a black skirt, she wore a pair of black corduroy pants. She sighed while making her way down, and then suddenly she stopped. She saw another already down there, it was someone from her house. However, she couldn't make out who it was.

Just as James had lowered his hand from his forehead he saw a figure come into the room. THis made his insides jump with a jolt of worry. Then, as suddenly as the feeling had come, it left and a feeling of ease swept of him. "Its just a girl. Just another student. If she asks who my letter was to, I'll say its none of her business." he thought, though, he would probably never have the guts to tell some one something wasn't their business, even if it wasn't. He'd probably just stammer and say something like "Ah, er, the headmistress?"
Looked away from the girl trying to seem nonchalant as he put his arm on the window sill and pretending to watch his bird fly off with his letter, waiting for the girl to start her business so he could make a quick escape.

Zarahe didn't move, she was frozen in her tracks. She then decided she might as well send her letter or she was never going to do so. So she hurried down the steps, and tied her letter to another owl that was there. It hurried off out of the window. Zarahe moved off to a small corner that was lit by the light that flowed from the window. "Waiting for a reply back?" she found herself asking.

James tried not to look at the girl, just pretended to keep watching the sky. It was, however, inevitable when she talked to him. He had just been starting to move a way from the window when her voice broke the silence. He spun and looked at her, recognizing her as a girl from his classes but one he never got to know.
"Um... no.... he said, shaking his head. "I was just, er, making sure my bird flew in the right direction. The last time I used one of the school's owls, it flew the wrong way and my,er, recipient didn't get their letter until weeks later." He lied, of course, and not only was he making a fool of himself... well, he was pretty much just making a fool of himself. And he knew it, too.

(( wrong name, hunny buns, lol))
He pushed back his hair and made a side-step for the door, but only that one. "Um, yeah, I think we're the same year. Wait, are you a Ravenclaw?" he asked. Now that he was thinking about it, he might have seen her in the common rom once or tice before, too.

James thought for a moment about the name. It didn't really ring any bells. "I'm James." he said, then remembered that she had said her last name and hastily added "Ambercrombie." to the end.

James just nodded politely. That's why he didn't really recognize her - he was usually spacing out that period. He stuck his hands awkwardly into the pocket of his sweatshirt. "Er, speaking of that, is that essay due today... or tomorrow?" was the only thing he could think to say.
