Adler sighed as he took his own seat on the grass. It wasn't a sigh of exasperation or annoyance, just one of those things that you do when you sit. "I understand what you're saying..." he said while positioning himself comfortable with the palms of his hands flat on the earth behind his torso. "But I think you're missing the fact that the stars are innumerable: no matter how hard you try for how long its impossible to count them." he said plain and simply as it had been his whole argument all along.

"But I think you're missing the fact that the stars are innumerable: no matter how hard you try for how long its impossible to count them."
Dawn nodded, “You can count the ones you can see,” she added grinning, “But I can see where you’re coming from, and yeah I kinda agree with you.” She decided their little argument had been enjoyable but wasn’t going to go anywhere and so she’d better just change the subject or something. Hearing music from the castle she suddenly recognised the tune, “Oh I know how this one goes,” she said randomly and started to hum the tune, “It’s that annoying song they always play on the radio,” she pointed out, “- witching hour – my mum listens to it.” Continuing to hum slightly she reached into her pockets, finding them empty she turned to him and said, “You got any food?”

Adler let the arguement slide, not too sad to see it go. He didn't recognize the tune - never one to sit down and listen to the radio especially the kind of music that the castle was emitting at the moment. He took a second to be happy that he was outside enjoying the nice breeze and, well, a conversation with a nice girl instead of being in a cramped ball room with a thousand other people.
Her next question struck him as kind of odd and even though he never carried food with him, he patted his pockets - stopped - realized that that was a stupid move and shook his head. "Sorry, no." he admitted with a laugh.

Dawn smiled slightly, "Sorry for the randomness... it's just all the food's at the ball and I haven't eaten," she stood up again and looked back across at the castle in time to see a large green Dark Mark erupt over the school, horrified she turned to Adler. "Oh my God."

Adler had stayed seated and had been in mid-reply when he followed her eyes and looked over the castle to see the dark mark. His family knew lots of death eaters so it wasn't the dark mark that scared him. He just didn't know what kind of business the death eaters had in the school. He took a stand, perplexed. "Well... shit, good thing we're not in there, right?" he said, turning to look the girl in the eyes and seeing the horror in them.

"Good thing?" she repeated, still looking at the castle, "What about everyone who's in there?" A large crash then erupted as the roof began to fall in, she didn't really mean to be rude to the boy, she was just so shocked. "What do you think's happening?"

Adler looked back at her, a little shocked himself that she was worring about it. He thought that she must be a Gryffindor. He doubted that the death eaters would just march into the world's most famous school just to do random murders - they just didnt' work like that. No, this was probably a carefully planned attack on one or two people. He was surprised, however, when the roof collasped in that area. He could only shrug to her question as his views on the situation switched. "I dunno... I think one of the students got on the death eaters' bad side... whatever it is, its an increasingly good thing that we're out here - we don't want to be part of that mess." he said, hoping the girl didn't want to go play hero.
