Professor Newbern's office was still under remodeling since it was right next to the ballroom, and his room had been distroyed during the incident at the Halloween Ball. So the staff room was the next place that he was able to go in order to grade papers, even though the Headmistress offered her office to him for the time being. So there Beau was, sitting on a sofa, pen in hand, grading papers.

Yamir walked into the staffroom, feeling tired and a little fraught - his first year class had just had a debate about werewolves, following a lesson with Professor Banner, in which they had been told the tale of his narrow escape. They had all been talking about it when they had arrived, and had never quite shut up. But then the inevitable had happened, and one of the Slytherins had brought up the whole 'half-breeds' idea, causing an explosion of conversation. Yamir had hardly been able to contain himself - he had wanted to explain that he himself was one... werewolves were perfectly safe during the full moon as long as they took the Wolfsbane potion - Professor Banner was just prejudiced against them because he had had a bad experience with one.
He sighed, making himself a cup of coffee, and glanced behind him to see who else was in the room. So far, he could only see Professor Newbern. "Beau... coffee?" he offered.

Beau looked up from his work,"Sure." His German accent thick as ever. "Rough day, eh?"

Yamir sighed and gave a nod, bringing Beau's coffee over to him and setting it down on the table in front of the sofa. He had his own in his hands. "My first years... I never thought a bunch of eleven-year-olds could hold such a long debate on werewolves when they were supposed to be making a Shrinking Solution," he said sitting down in an arm-chair and slumping back in it.

Beau thanked Yamir for the coffee, and took it in his left hand. He sipped some of it. "First years will surprise you. However, you can't let them ruffle ye feathers." He sat the coffee down, and dipped his quill in an ink jar next to the mug on the table. Then circled a few things on a piece of parchment in front of him. "Ye know, I sometimes wonder if students really pay attention in my class."

"Me too. The amount of times I have to tell them to actually read the instructions on the board before they try and make the potion..." He heaved another sigh. "How has your day been?"

"Well, easy until now. I've never used this much red in any of my grading. Now I've either got to bore them to death or get tougher. Possibly both."

Yamir gave a smile. "Maybe you could give them tests on runes," he suggested. "Like... ten short questions each lesson. And reward those who do well, and punish those who do badly. It'll get them learning - trust me."

"That's an idea. I guess I'll have to try it, thanks Yamir." Beau said, grading the last paper. "Fianlly, I'm done."

"That's alright." Yamir took a small sip of coffee, but it was still too hot to drink, wandering over to the wall where each teacher had a moving, magical photograph with their name beside it. Only one name didn't - that of one 'Professor J Banner'. Yamir already didn't like the man, even though they had never met. The wolf in him growled silently at the blank space of wall that had been made for the absent picture, and he looked at it for a few moments before his eyes travelled up to his own photograph, and he inwardly cringed. "I wish they didn't have to put our photos up," he remarked with a small smile.

"Nor do I.." Beau replied, following Yamir's gaze to the wall. "We know each other, we see each other everyday, why put photos up, eh?"

"Maybe it's for the new teachers," he shrugged. "Or students... though students don't often come in here."
Just as he had finished talking, the door opened, and John Banner walked in, hands in his pockets, a happy smile on his face. "Blimey, I love teachin' a class that mostly takes place at night," he said, then stretched, yawned, and flopped down in a chair - Yamir's chair. "John Banner... Astronomy teacher - I'm new. I'll tell ye - never before has my werewolf story gone down better with a class than the lesson before last..."
Yamir took another sip of coffee, pretending that he wasn't bothered that John had just taken his seat - though, of course, he hadn't realised that it had been Yamir's. So this was the idiot prejudicing first years against people like him. "Yamir Edmonds," he said a little coldly, introducing himself to John, who smiled good-naturedly up at him.

"Beau Newbern. How does an Astronomy professor like yourself come to talk about werewolves anyhow in an Astronomy class anyways?" Beau asked, and looked at Yamir. He was acting kinda touchy on the subject of werewolves, but didn't think much of it.

Yamir gave Beau a small smile. "Exactly."
John looked up. "Say what?" He blinked, looking at them both blankly for a few moments before he realised. "Oh! My werewolf story... Aye, well - we were studyin' the moon in the textbook, 'cause, you know, they're only first-years, an' most of 'em have never even thought about lookin' at the stars in much detail... then someone..." he gave a sheepish smile, "I'm not too good with their names at the moment. But someone mentions that," he put on an English accent, mimicking the first-year boy, "'Oh... Professor, Sir... it's the full moon tomorrow when we have our night-time lesson' so I thought I'd tell them the tale of the time I was out stargazing under a full moon... you know, just te break the ice a little bit." He grinned. "They all thought it was funny - me runnin' for my life away from this monster... It was terrifyin'. Saved myself with a homorphus charm, but it was pretty damn close."
"The homorphus charm is apparently very painful for a werewolf," Yamir remarked, trying to sound as though he had meant it off-handedly. It forced the werewolf back into human form prematurely, before the full moon was done.
"Well... yeah, but I was hardly gonna let him kill me, or bite me and turn me inte one," John replied, glancing over at Beau to see if he was going to back him up. He hadn't really expected to get into an argument with one of his colleagues during his first week - though this could hardly be called an 'argument' yet. "I've got scars - that's how close it was." He knew it was also partly his fault for venturing out under a full moon in the first place. Yamir agreed, though didn't voice this thought.

Beau just listened,"Well yes, it's a good thing to break the ice, but stories of that kind really aren't supposed to be discussed. It allows a pupil's mind to wonder from where it's supposed to be, and that's focusing on the lesson. However, I really can't go opening my mouth, because I did the same thing when I first arrived. I'm just telling you.. as a friend." Beau said, hoping that what he just said had made sense to both professors.
