This RP is NC-17 and it fully supports slash and femslash. This note is for the benefit of those who do not support any type of slash.
As we very well know, when Harry James Potter was very young, his parents died fighting to protect him against the Dark Lord Voldemort. Harry survived the dreaded Avada Kedavra curse, and the only evidence of his abnormal survival was the lightning bolt scar upon his forehead.
But what if things had been different?
Albus Dumbledore told Harry in his fifth year that there was another boy that the Prophecy could have meant, the prophecy meaning that the Boy Who Lived would have to kill or be killed by the Dark Lord. Albus Dumbledore told Harry that the Prophecy could have meant another child, but Voldemort choose Harry.
What if Voldemort had chosen Neville Longbottom?
Now everything is entirely different. Amazing how one decision can change so much.
But there are some things that are the same. The Boy Who Lived still has a Muggle-Born bushy haired friend and a Pure Blooded redheaded friend. Neville is friends with Ron and Hermione, he has the lightning scar on his forehead, but no glasses, of course.
But what became of Harry Potter, you may ask?
Lily and James, like the Frank and Alice Longbottom that we know of, were rendered insane and put into St Mungos. But Harry took this an entirely different way.
For you see, Harry Potter is the most startling change of all. Most thought that he would follow in his parents footsteps and be sorted into Gryffindor. However, Harry Potter was sorted into Slytherin.
The kind, loyal and brave Harry Potter we know of now is in this reality a dark, moody seventeen year old boy with a few secrets to hide.
Whilst on the subject of Slytherins, there is a distinct change in who is the Slytherin Prince. Sure, Draco Malfoy is still a big name in Slytherin, and he hasn't changed at all, except he doesn't hang around with Crabbe and Goyle, who are like very deadly versions of the Weasleys and are much better looking than the thugs we know of, Draco is friends with Theodore Nott, the Slytherin Prince and Head Boy in this reality. It's rumoured that Theodore Nott already has the Dark Mark, as his Father is Voldemort's right hand man in this reality, but even if Theo does have the Dark Mark, he has a plan this year for getting what, or should I say who he wants.
Neville is kind and loyal and brave, and he can even fly a broomstick in this reality -- He's Seeker, but like the old Neville Longbottom, he has hardly any luck with girls.
Ron and Hermione are the same, as are the rest of the Weasley family.
Remember when Draco Malfoy first met Harry Potter in the train compartment? He offered him the opportunity to become his friend. As we know, Harry rejected Draco's proposal, but he accepted in this case, unable to tolerate being next to a Muggle Born (Harry doesn't share his parents love for Muggles and Muggle related things, think of him as a modern day Tom Riddle).
So that's the general plot, basically. Rest assured there is going to be drama, drama and more drama. The power to make it so is in your hands.
Sit back, relax, flex your fingers, and prepare yourselves to find out What Could Have Been.
