Jake nodded to her and they both went back to get their bags.
Later that day…
Seeing as the pair were in different years Jake had hardly seen Miriam all day, and he wanted to know she was coping alright, so, after dinner, having seen all day that the weather was extremely cold, and the lake was iced over, Jake found Miriam in the common room. He knew she needed cheering up and so took her hand, without explaining anything and said, “Come with me...”

She looked up and took his hand, following him. She was tense, but she trusted him not to hurt her. At least, she hoped so.

Jake smiled and led her outside, where it was snowing and the giant lake had solidified, "I thought you needed cheering up," he said, conjuring two pairs of ice skates, "So, how bout it?"

She smiled and nodded. "Thank you. I'm glad I have you as a friend." She took the ice skates and fit them on, gliding around neatly. "I bet I can go in circles around you," she taunted.
