Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry had been given a little break for the Muggle holiday Thanksgiving. It wasn't that they were to celebrate it, it was that Odette White, the headmistress, needed to take a break from school. It wasn't that she was ready for it to be over with, that was the last thing she wanted to happen. It turns out that her father died a couple days ago. Off in Muggle London, Odette entered the old graveyard near Regent's Park. This was where her father was buried. She walked slowing among the graves, trying to find her muggle father's tombstone. Soon she found it and went down on her knees in front of it. Her fingers traced the engraving on the grave. Kaimberious D. White May 4th 1962 - November 20, 2028 A Loving Husband and Father Odette whipped away a few tears that began to trickle down her pale cheeks. She had attended the furneal, but hadn't stayed long as she couldn't take the fact that her beloved father was finally gone. She was in fact a big daddy's girl, and was the one that took his death the hardest out of all her family.

Dylan had gone for a walk around Regent's Park, though had quickly vacated the park after a large dog had run over to him and barked until its owner had called it off with many apologies. He didn't like dogs much; they frightened him, especially when they behaved like that.
His new path led him across the cemetery which, oddly, he did not find scary in the very least. Looking up over the tombstones as he walked, he caught sight of a figure kneeling by a grave. It looked strangely familiar... Cursing his bad eye-sight, he squinted through his glasses, trying to make out who it was so far away. It wasn't Odette... was it?
Quietly making his way over - not wishing to disturb her whilst she mourned for the person who was buried there - he stopped a few feet away from her and read the engraving, feeling a sudden pang of compassion for her. She had lost her father...
"I - I'm really sorry..." he stammered quietly so as not to startle her if she hadn't realised he was there.

Odette had felt his presence before he even said anything, and sighed while he was talking. She got up from where she was and truned to face him. "Thanks. He will be missed." she said and ran a finer under both eyes to wipe away any tears that were about to fall. "What bring you here, Professor?"

"I - I was just... walking," he replied quietly, glancing up at her timidly. "I can... I can leave, if you want to - to be alone...?" he suggested, feeling a little awkward now at having disturbed her. "Oh... here," he said sympathetically, reaching into his pocket and taking out a clean handkerchief, which he offered to her.

She took the handkerchief, and smiled as a thank you. "You don't have to leave. I think the company will help me."

"Alright, then," he said quietly. There was a small pause, and then he went on. "...I - I dunno if... if you want to talk about it...?"

"Well, I could. I just don't know what to say. He just passed away, and I wish I was there to be with him, but I couldn't." she said and her gaze went to the ground in front of her.

"Say anything you want... I'm here to listen." He placed a comforting hand on her arm.

She covered her mouth and closed her eyes. "I miss that man." she said. She took the handkerchief and whipped under her eyes a little. "And the thing is, I was always off at school. I never really spent time with him."

"You've got a very time-consuming job, Odette, I'm sure he realised that... And he will have loved you for being his daughter no matter what." He couldn't stand seeing her cry, and wished that he could share some of her pain so that she didn't have to bear it all. "Look... come here," he said quietly, and took her gently in a hug, praying she wouldn't mind. "I know you might wish it, but you can't turn back time... so dwelling on the bad points is only going to make you feel bad."

She didn't mind at all as she buried her face in his chest. She sobbed a little, then looked up at him. Around her eyes was red from crying so much,"You're right. I guess what gets me is there are no good memories to think about from now on. I have nothing to look back on and laugh or smile at."

He held her just tightly enough to let her know that he was there, and that he wasn't going to leave her on her own.
"I'm sure you do... can-can you not think of anything...?"

"No. I can't. I don't want to believe there's nothing, but I don't have anything that comes to mind."

Dylan didn't know what to say. He couldn't create memories for Odette out of thin air... and he certainly couldn't bring her father back for her. He didn't know what to do.

Odette just needed to someone to be there for her, she already felt lonely in the world as it was.
