She sighed, suddenly retreating into her shell. "I'm sorry, Professor. I was being too forward. Please forgive me." She seemed to understand that she had gone to far. "And thank you for the potion. I will come by tomorrow night for some more."

Yamir gave her a warm smile that told her she was forgiven. "You were," he agreed lightly. "Just a little. But it's alright," he said quietly. "And you're quite welcome to the potion."

She nodded and left in silence, finding her way to the Forest. There she conversed with the wolves and howled the packsong, returning to her room in silence. She didn't really want conversation for the rest of the night.
The next day, she came to the Potions room early, sitting in her desk and reading. What had possessed her the night before? She finally told herself that, no matter what happened, she would do her best to remain in the role of a student, even when she went to get the Wolfsbane.

Yamir entered the classroom, coming out of the store cupboard, from which he had been getting the ingredients that his next class needed. He had not been able to keep his mind off one thing - he had found another werewolf. Someone who knew what it felt like, knew the pain of transforming every month. Looking up, he saw that werewolf sitting in her desk, apparently reading a book.
"Afternoon, Mariah," he smiled.

She glanced up and gave a small, quick smile. "Good afternoon, Professor. And how are you today?" She shut the book, one on Potions she expected to use after school was over. She, too, felt the excitement of finding someone at school who could relate to the pain. Still she was quiet, for the wolf was strong today. The sense of another one near, and of being able to sing the pack-song, had made it push at the barriers she had made. Silence, now, would be her friend, at least where mortals were concerned.

"As well as can be expected, I think," he replied. "And you?"
He couldn't help noticing she seemed a little tense - but that was no doubt because of the fact that the full moon was fast approaching. Her 'other side' would be more restless than usual. And so was his.

She shrugged. "Better."
Afterwards she sat quietly, watching the clock until exactly a minute before the students were due. Then, she stood and changed her outfit quickly, so that she was wearing a black tank-top and black slacks. She did not want others to notice the wolf-fur she would normally have adorning her outfit. When the first student came in, she sat again and waited patiently for the class to start, sharing only a small smile to the Professor before becoming the quietly serious Mariah everyone expected.

Yamir gave a small smile to himself as she quickly magically changed what she was wearing, thinking along the same lines as she was. Wolf fur was a little out of the ordinary, and could lead to awkward questions. Waiting for the students to arrive he wrote the title of the potion that they would be studying in the lesson up on the black-board in his spiky handwriting. 'Calming Draughts'

She nodded slightly and immediately began to get to work. By the end of class she had completed it, and had a small vial bottled and ready. Afterwards, she placed it on his desk. "I'll slip it around the same time tonight for the potion Professor, if you don't mind."

Yamir nodded, on the pretence of looking at the phial of her completed potion. "That's fine." The class seemed to have done well - as well as could be expected from a high-level NEWT class, which they were. *** At the end of the day, Yamir had just finished a detention with a second-year who had purposefully sprayed some of her badly-brewed Swelling Solution in another student's face, when there was a knock on the door. He looked up, knowing it to be Mariah, and called, "Come in."

She stepped in as she had the night before, silently and carefully. She seemed tired, for she had put in many hours for her studies until she deemed everyone else would be asleep. Seeing him in there, she gave him a small nod. "Good evening, Professor. Have you taken your draught as well?" She would, at least, make sure that he had enough for himself.

"Oh... I couldn't, not yet. I've had a second-year in here re-bottling pickled leeches, and I didn't want her to ask questions... you know." He gave a small smile to himself as he remembered the girl's expression when he had told her what her punishment would be - but she had deserved it: flicking that potion into someone's face was very dangerous, especially if it hadn't been brewed properly. As before, he conjured two goblets, filled them with Wolfsbane Potion and handed one to her. "Here's to... hopefully, a pleasant full moon," he said, raising his goblet slightly and then draining it, pulling a face of disgust afterwards. "Disgusting," he remarked, with a rueful smile, placing his empty goblet on his desk. As he looked up at her briefly, he noticed that she was looking a little worn down. "...Tired?" he inquired, sitting down at his desk and pulling a pile of third-year essays on moonstone and its properties towards himself.

She gulped it down as she had before, barely noticing the taste. "What did she get punished for?" She didn't want to address her weariness. She'd get over it later, when she was studying again. This was a necessary break, that was all. Besides, she didn't have time to sleep anyway, and she wouldn't sleep if she laid down. Or so she thought.

Glancing up at her momentarily as he dipped a raven feather quill into the pot of red ink he had for marking, before reading through the essay in front of him. "She threw some of her potion into another girl's face," he said, quill darting across the parchment as he added a point to the essay. "She tried to tell me it was because the other was flirting with her boyfriend - but as far as I'm concerned, they can sort that out before they enter my classroom, because I won't tolerate that sort of behaviour. She could have seriously damaged her eyes - and, because the potion wasn't even brewed correctly, there might not have been an antidote... but I was lucky enough to have one." All of this was said with his head slightly bowed, looking down at the parchment in front of him, quill poised over it.

She snorted. "I've heard that excuse so many times in my years here. It must be one of the oldest. A first year even used it in Charms when they levitated another guy." She sighed. "Some people never learn." She covered a soft yawn, and stretched a little. "Do you need any help, Professor? I could use a break from my studies."
