Yamir gave her an innocent look at her comment about professors, his eyes growing big and puppy-like, but his expression broke into a smile as she continued. "Then maybe you should consider being a professor when you're older," he suggested, meaning to imply that she was also clever.

Mariah grinned at that. "I think that can wait until I have better control over studying habits," she pointed out, "but thanks for the compliment all the same."
She said her good-nights, gathered her books, and walked to her dorm quietly. That innocent expression kinda made him seem.... cute? What am I thinking? Deciding that she just needed sleep, and went to bed and forgot about it the next day.

"You're welcome," he replied, and followed her out of the library, making his way to his room up in the staff dormitories. Mariah was a student he seemed to be seeing an awful lot of lately...
The next day, Yamir waited in his dungeon classroom for the class that contained Mariah, wondering if she had received enough sleep last night to prevent her from making another mistake with her potion. She probably hadn't... but tonight, if he found her in the library again when it was nearing midnight, he would tell her again to go to bed.

She came in early, as usual, setting out her things and waiting, her eyes on the board. She didn't really look at him, focused on either making the potion or reviewing facts she had retained already.
She didn't show up for dinner that day either, a fact that had become true more and more often. She would show up for breakfast, maybe lunch, but by dinner she was in the library studying.
She did, however, return to the library for a night session of studying. The chances of Professor Edmonds finding her in the very back of the library were slim, but she still drifted off, laying on top of the book she was currently studying.

It was nearing midnight again, and Mariah had not shown up. Picking up another flask of Wolfsbane Potion, he proceeded to the library for the second time. But he had to search much harder to find her this time. At first, he could not see her anywhere, and was about to go back to the classroom, when the thought occured to him that he had not checked the very back of the library very carefully. Walking down, he spotted her, again fast asleep on a pile of books. He set the flask of potion down in front of her, in the centre of the desk, and attempted to wake her up again, in the same way he had done before, placing his hand gently on her shoulder and giving her a gentle shake, saying her name.

This time, though, the reaction was immediate. Still caught in her dream of hunting, she snarled and whipped her head around, teeth fastening on his wrist, her incisors digging in. She didn't really have the strength to pull out of her dream-state either, which left the intruder with two choices: Running, or fighting.

As soon as she moved, Yamir had some idea as to what she might do - because she had nearly done it the last time - but he did not move his hand quick enough, and her teeth sank into his wrist. With an "Ouch" muttered in surprise, he tried to pull his arm away, but she would not let go. He did not want to hurt her, but pulled out his wand, thinking of a spell whilst her jaws tightened steadily around his arm, becoming quite painful. The only spell he could think of at that moment that would not do her much harm, but cause her to let go at the same time was "Relashio!" he said, and blue and bronze sparks shot out of the end of his wand, which was directed towards her.

She did let go, the force of the charm sending her flying back in her chair. This, however, only caused her to snarl again, and within moments had transformed into her animagus form of a white wolf. She continued to snarl, lips drawn back to show sharp teeth already stained with a bit of his blood.

"You're an animagus as well?" he voiced out loud, surprised to see this, though started backing away, wand trained on the wolf. One animal transformation was enough for him, though admittedly, the transformation between human and were-wolf was a lot more painful than the animagus. Looking down at his wrist, he saw blood starting to well up from the wound she had inflicted upon him, but attempted to ignore it and tried to remember the charm that forced an animagus to change back. It wasn't the 'homorphus' charm... that was for were-wolves, as he was constantly reminded every time he even looked at Professor Banner... What the hell was it!?
He would not provoke the wolf into an attack by casting a spell on her that didn't work, but continued to slowly back up, moving slowly with no sudden movements. The wolf in him was snarling back, willing him to stand his ground and fight, prove he was the better wolf, but his human side really did not fancy his chances against a wolf, and the more primitive instinct inside him was telling him to run as fast as he could in the opposite direction to her.
He could feel blood gently beginning to trickle down his arm from his wrist, but didn't want to take his eyes off her in case she attacked, which was what he would have to do in order to heal it.

She lowered herself closer to the ground, preparing to leap in order to catch his upper arm, or even his throat, in her jaws. She snarled again, then leapt, only to feel....
((I left off in case you want him to suddenly send expelliarmus or something at her to knock her away (not transforming her back yet, though)))

((Hehe ^^ cool))
Yamir swallowed as she bent lower. He would have to time this perfectly, or... She pounced. Diving to the left, out of her way, he pointed his wand at her. "Impedimenta!" It was so close, he felt the heat of her body pass inches from his, and the snap as her jaws closed around thin air, milimetres from his arm.
This time, he did run. The jinx would only freeze her for a few seconds, which wasn't enough time for him to make it out of the library, but he could still hide - though he knew she would be able to smell him, it would give him a little bit of time. Darting behind the bookshelves, he sprinted as far away from her as possible, then hid, just waiting for her to find him, or for a chance to get out of the library.

She yelped, falling frozen to the ground. Soon, though, she regained control, and set off to find him, nose to the ground.
It wasn't long, though, before she smelled something else. When she did find the Professor, her attention was not on him, but on the source of the other scent. As part of her human mind surfaced, she found herself hoping he would be slow to jinx her, or else this other person would disappear again. Crouching, she growled low in her throat. The chances he understood the wolf language in human form were slim, but she still had to try. Don't move. Someone new. Stay still!

An ominous growl met his ears and Yamir froze, though pointed his wand at Mariah, watching her warily and trying to keep his breathing calm and steady, as opposed to his heart, which was thumping fast. His eyes darted over to the door, which still seemed so far away, but he didn't move. She wouldn't attack him, hopefully, if he didn't pose as a threat towards her. So he stayed where he was.

Growling again in frustration, she suddenly redirected the force of her jump. This leap, instead of going over the Professor's shoulder, sent her into the book-case. Springing off that the instant she hit it, she snarled as her teeth met an unseen arm. Biting down hard enough to cause the person to scream, she wrestled with this hidden person as blood dripped from her mouth.

Yamir heard a scream, and that was when he knew it was serious. He flung himself out from behind the bookcase and cast "Expelliarmus!" at Mariah, throwing her off whoever it was. "How badly are you hurt?" he asked the person, foolishly turning his back on Mariah as he sought to look after the person she had pounced on.
